This week we’re celebrating our school nurses! This year especially we want to shout from the rooftop: THANK YOU!
School nurses serve our students by managing life-threatening conditions, identifying mental health issues, leveling the field with regard to health disparities, and now, contact tracing COVID cases. They were key in developing school safety plans to prevent the spread of COVID.
In addition to all that, school nurses support general health education and safety needs every day.
When K-12 employees became eligible for COVID vaccinations, our school nurses were on the front lines. They spent two Saturdays in March working Highline staff vaccination clinics. Our nurses vaccinated nearly 1,000 people.
The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the role school nurses play in student health and community health. Thank you, school nurses, for all you do for our communities.
Here are some words of appreciation from Superintendent Susan Enfield.
