Safety on the School Bus: What Students Should Do

Safety on the School Bus: What Students Should Do
Students get on bus

For a safe school bus journey, students have a role to play. They must follow the rules, like staying seated, not distracting the driver, and being respectful to others. When getting on and off the bus, they should wait for it to stop completely, use the handrail, and look both ways before crossing the street. Staff Focus on Safety

School bus drivers are trained to keep children safe. They have a special license and receive training in first aid, security, and emergency procedures. They also learn how to manage student behavior. Regular checks on their background and health ensure they are always ready to drive safely.

Bus Safety Features

School buses meet high safety standards, with features like strong construction, rollover protection, and safe exits. These make the bus sturdy and secure in accidents.

The bus's design, including high, cushioned seats and a strong frame, provides protection.

Risks During Boarding and Disembarking

Most accidents happen when students are getting on or off the bus. To prevent this, buses have stop signs and flashing lights to let cars know they need to stop. Students should always cross in front of the bus where they can see the bus driver and the bus driver and other motorists can see them.

Your Role in Safety

Support from families and the community helps keep school bus rides safe. Please encourage your children to follow bus rules and make sure you're aware of bus safety protocols as a driver on the road.
