Friday Family Newsletter - May 13, 2022

Friday Family Newsletter - May 13, 2022

Dear MHS Families,

In an effort to activate student voice and choice here at MHS, we are intentionally building structures of support that will create positive & inclusive student culture. We will be selecting seven student leaders for our Maritime High School Student Advisory Board (Future Associate Student Body - ASB). These students will serve a term for the 22/23 school year. Some of the work will include developing a constitution, setting up roles and responsibilities for ASB designated positions (e.g., President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, etc.). These students will also play a role in coordinating extracurricular activities outside of school hours, as well as leading staff in building school culture and honoring the Maritime Promise. Please email or call Ms. Heather if your student is interested.

We are also pleased to announce that Maritime High School has hired Julia Keiter as our STEM Generalist (Math) Position for the 22-23 school year and beyond. Julia comes to us from one of our district partner choice programs, WELS (Waskowitz Environmental Leadership Service). Julia has extensive innovative school knowledge, outdoor recreational wisdom, and a Project Based Learning (PBL) background. She will continue her current placement teaching role until the end of this school year (June 16th). We are excited for Julia to utilize her strengths in our collective future work ahead!

Have a great weekend!

Strong Sails,

Tremain Holloway
