Dear MHS Families, 

We have had a wonderful week with lots of exciting activities. Students recently read the book The Highest Tide and we were lucky enough to have the author, Jim Lynch, visit campus and speak to the students on Wednesday. Ask your student what their favorite part of this week was! Other highlights included:

• Webinars with Pacific Marine Expo

• Virtual Visit with EV Nautilus Livestream Connect with Lindsay Holladay Van Damme

• Visits from Sea-Bird & Foundry 10

Our Presentations of Learning are off to an amazing start. Our staff was so honored to sit in on some of our students today. We can’t wait to hear more about the work and growth happening at Maritime, when POL’s return on Monday. 

 Next Week-at- a-Glance:

• Nov 19, 22, 23 & 24- Student Presentations of Learning (POLs) – Continue via Zoom

  • Students should have signed up for and be attending other POLs daily from 11/22-11/24 as a part of their attendance and schoolwork expectations. They are expected to be attentive and give their peers meaningful feedback. They will also have asynchronous assignments 11/19-11/24 from their teachers to complete during the sessions where they are not attending a POL.

  • Asynchronous Work Expectations for Students

Reminders & Save the Dates: 

• For those of you who have submitted their signed student copy of the Student Field Experience Work Safety Agreement we thank you for promptness. We are still missing a few copies at the moment. Please submit to the main office as soon as possible. Thanks for your cooperation. See news for next week below.

• November 25th & 26th - No School/Thanksgiving

• November 30th - Maritime High School Informational Evenings (Prospective Families)

• December 6th - Picture Retake Day (Photos were sent to us but are delayed in shipping with UPS. I will continue to keep you updated.)

• December 8th - Highline College: Black & Brown Male Summit

  • This is a free event that is designed to empower and encourage our young men of color to excel in life and academics. 

• December 14th - Maritime High School Informational Evenings (Prospective Families)
