Graduation Requirements

Competency-Based Approach

Maritime High School has a competency-based approach. To graduate from Maritime High School students must complete the instructional sequence in one of three focus areas; show advanced mastery of the seven MHS competencies; and complete a portfolio defense as a culmination of their learning. Details about these requirements can be found by contacting Maritime High School.

Maritime Graduation Requirements

There are 3 components to the formula for graduating from Maritime High School, to be completed throughout the Launch phase in grades 11-12. For details about launch expectations, click here.

The first component is completing an instructional sequence in one of the focus area pathways: Marine Resources & Research or Vessel Design, Operations & Maintenance.

The second component is compiling 8-12 learning artifacts in the Mastery Transcript to show mastery of the seven MHS competencies.

The third component is completed in the spring of 12th grade. Students will create a portfolio defense and present their evidence and arguments of mastery to an audience of students, family members, MHS staff, and maritime industry mentors/professionals from their chosen career pathway.
